Revenge of the Cheerleaders

Richard Lerner, Producer/Director (1976)

"Fans of softcore sex farces and celebrity watchers alike will adore this amoral, brain-damaged "comedy...
it's never dull, and that spells success for any exploitation picture."
          Fred Beldin, Rovi, Answers.com

"Considered a cult classic, the normally cartoonish genre format is hilariously exploded as spontaneous innocent madness pokes a hole into the reality of those times rarely captured in a scripted tilm. Featuring Carl Ballantine, David Hasselhof.
Revenge of the Cheerleaders delivers all that it promises."

It's High School the Way We Remember It ... Although It Never Happened Quite Like This!

Revenge of the Cheerleaders
The cheerleading team at Aloha High are popular with their fellow students (except for a couple of stuck-up rich girls), but they're a major cause of the school's lecherous reputation for underage sex and drug abuse. The fun-loving gals spike the lunchroom spaghetti sauce with a concoction of pot, pills, and powders, hold wild orgies in the boys' locker room, and never bother to attend their classes. The school board considers a merger with Aloha's biggest rivals, the vocational school Lincoln High, but the cheerleaders refuse to mix with the low-class juvenile delinquents that go there. A new principal, ex-Marine Hall Walker (Norman Thomas Marshall), might whip the school into shape, but it'll mean forcing the cheerleaders out of the squad and back into the classroom. Though the girls prove their importance to Aloha spirit at the crucial moment of a big basketball game, it turns out that more sinister forces are at work when the school is blown up and the principal is kidnapped. It's up to the cheerleaders to save the day and unravel a conspiracy to steal Aloha High's land for a shopping mall. Carl Ballantine, David Hasselhoff, and genre vet Rainbeaux Smith appear in this energetic sex comedy.

The Cheerleaders The Cheerleaders

THE CHEERLEADERS is the barely-legal bonanza of all cheerleader epics. Released in the summer of 1972 with a self-imposed ‘X’ rating, the movie single-handedly lit the fuse and set the bar for the entire genre. Director Paul Glickler describes the movie as "suburban absurd" and admits that the film’s story of underage sexual antics initially offended executives with the film's distributor Cinemation, who had previously released such taboo—busters as INGA, SWEET SWEETBACK, AFRICA BLOOD AND GUTS and the legendary double bill of I DRINK YOURBLOOD/I EAT YOUR SKIN. Starting with only a handful of prints, the film rolled out regionally and within months was a nationwide smash.

lt’s still easy to see why: As the ’l5-year-old virgin’ Jeannie, the totally tasty Stephanie Fondue (in reality, according to Glickler, a free-spirited actress named Enid) is the ultimate jailbait fantasy. As a comedy, no story of horny young girls, attempted gang rape, student/teacher lesbianism, creepy pervert janitors and suburban sex fiend fathers has ever seemed so breezily innocent. The women are hot, the sex is almost constant and the direction and dialog are often quite inventive. And while much of the film’s morality may seem disturbing today, THE CHEERLEADERS remains a truly jaw-dropping drive-in (or late night cable) classic.
